Meeting Dates: April 25-27, 2012
Las Vegas is located in southern Nevada at an elevation of about 2,000 feet. The location is characterized by a desert terrain as it is located within the Mojave Desert. The Las Vegas McCarran Intentional Airport is a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip.
Las Vegas is the most populous city in the state of Nevada and is an internationally renowned resort city for gambling, shopping, and fine dining. Self-named “The Entertainment Capital of the World”, Las Vegas is famous for its casino resorts and entertainment. There is something for everyone in Las Vegas with a wide variety of activities for all age groups.
Established in 1905, Las Vegas officially became a city in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, Las Vegas was the most populous American city founded in that century (a distinction held by Chicago in the 19th century). The city's tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and this image has made Las Vegas a popular setting for films and television programs. There are numerous outdoor lighting displays on Fremont Street, as well as elsewhere in the city.
The 2012 Weather Modification Association’s Annual meeting will take place at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino and is located a short 5 miles from the Las Vegas McCarran Airport. There are a number of transportation options, including rental car, taxi cab or shuttle bus to and from the airport.
The goal of the conference is to provide a venue for the presentation of scientific research in the area of advertent and inadvertent weather modification and to encourage the exchange of ideas within the international weather modification community.
